Feature Objective


Seylan Bank offers its PFCA account holders a unique value added rewarding scheme known as “Seylan Thilina Sayura” in addition to competitive interest rates.

Previously known accounts such as Non-Resident Foreign Currency Accounts (NRFCs), Resident Foreign Currency Accounts (RFCs), Resident Non Nationals’ Foreign Currency Accounts (RNNFCs) and Non-Resident Non-National Foreign Currency Accounts (NRNNFAs) have been re-classified by Central Bank of Sri Lanka as PFCA.

Eligibility

Eligibility criteria for PFCA


    • Sri Lankan Passport holder residing in Sri Lanka.
    • Sri Lankan Passport holder residing overseas.
    • Foreign Passport holder who is a Sri Lankan origin holding permanent residence abroad.
    • Dual Citizenship holder of Sri Lankan origin, residing in/outside Sri Lanka.
    • Sri Lankan Nationals, who are employed abroad.
    • Non-nationals residing in Sri-Lanka.
    • Non-nationals on a temporary visit or intending to visit Sri Lanka.
    • PFCA account holder of another banks, who is willing to transfer the account to Seylan Bank.

How to get Started

  • Documents required:

    • Non-resident Sri Lankan origins-Copy of Passport , visa and address proof.
    • Non-nationals Residing in Sri Lanka-Copy of passport and ,visa and address proof
    • Resident Sri Lankans -NIC, Driving License or Passport and address proof.
  • Credits:

    • Inward remittances in foreign currency received through banking channels.
    • Foreign exchange brought into the country by the account holder.
    • Interest payable in foreign currency on funds held in the account.
    • Unutilized foreign currency obtained by the account holder for travel purpose from the PFCA.
  • Debits:

    • Debits are freely allowed for international transactions and funds transfers from one PFCA account to another.
    • For payments in Sri Lankan ( converted to Sri Lankan Rupees at the prevailing rate of Exchange).
    • Currency notes may be issued to holders of PFCA accounts against funds held in such accounts for travel purposes, subject to production of travel tickets.

If a person resident outside Sri Lanka remits foreign currency to a person resident in Sri Lanka, can the recipient open a Personal Foreign Currency Account (PFCA) with such funds ?


  • Yes. A PFCA can be opened by any type of inward remittance received through the banking channels.

Can the holders of Personal Foreign Currency Accounts withdraw foreign currency notes ?


  • Yes. for travel purposes subject to a maximum of USD 10,000 or its equivalent in another foreign currency.

Can the holder of Personal Foreign Currency Account deposit foreign currency notes to his/her PFCA account ?


  • Foreign currency brought in to Sri Lanka by the account holder, can be deposited upon appropriate declaration to the bank (subject to limits)

Can children open Personal Foreign currency Account even they are minors ?


  • Yes, they can.
